"Together In Fun And Fitness" was created for the George A. Caravalho Santa Clarita Sports Complex and the design was approved by the City of Santa Clarita. This mural measures 14 feet by 38 feet and depict images of sports and recreational activities available at the Complex such as aquatic sports, yoga, volleyball, adaptive basketball and skateboarding. Several schools in the William H. Hart School District in the Santa Clarita Valley will participate in this mural – starting with Valencia High School and West Ranch High School.

The following images show our progress to the final approved design for the Activities Center mural project.

This image was composed in Photoshop of images that depicts some of the activities offered at the Sports Complex after a meeting with Phil Lantis the Art & Events Administrator and Dianna Boon, the Recreation Services Administrator of the City of Santa Clarita

A couple of changes were made at the City's request in order to capture a better depiction of the programs offered at the Center. The composition was then translated into a line drawing and was approved by the City in April 2008.

The approved line drawings were then sent to be printed onto the vinyl wallpaper while the mural color style guide was painted. This style guide was then translated into the paint by number system.

Valencia High School started off the painting sessions on May 6th - May 8th. Our goal was to have the entire Special Education student body at Valencia participate in the painting. Over the three days of painting, we had 136 students, approximately 87 students with special needs and 49 mainstream students working together. We incorporated Valencia's "Circle of Friends" and the "Yes I Can" groups that focus on inclusion.
